As the first organization to provide all-inclusive health, safety and risk management services for the travel and experiential education industries, Cornerstone relies on a team of experts. To offer our members customized consultation, advisement, and thought leadership, it takes a professional who can navigate the space between industries.

Today, we’d like to introduce you to our mental health team, compassionate and self-motivated professionals who assist with the ongoing development of training and education, support our members, and develop best practices to keep organizations evolving. We’re fortunate to be joined by a the following individuals with significant industry experience and passion for transformative travel.

Meet: Maureen MacConnell, PMHNP-BC, PSY-M, Ed.D Candidate

Maureen MacConnell is a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner providing mental health consultation and training in over sixty countries. She has advanced degrees in Clinical Psychology and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing, and is pursuing her Ed.D in Human and Organizational Learning, specializing in international healthcare.

During her fifteen years as a mental health clinician, she has dedicated her career to improving mental health awareness domestically and internationally. Maureen believes in providing continuous, adaptive support for travelers that begins with enhancing candidate screening processes, on-the-ground support, and a thorough understanding of medical evacuation and repatriation. As a mental health clinician with a background in organizational learning and development, she is passionate about navigating the complexities of international healthcare and developing learning strategies that increase mental health support for employers and their clients.

In addition to her primary position, Maureen has developed international training on psychiatric transport safety, technical guidance on managing mental health issues and psychiatric emergencies abroad, and mental health support in organizations and higher education.

Meet: Beth Warsof, PhD

Beth is a licensed developmental psychologist, ICF-certified professional coach, and long-time experiential educator. Beth has been leading international education programs since 2013.

In 2021, Beth founded her own consulting organization to provide holistic support to travel programs. By conducting staff trainings, screenings, and on-call support, she is able to provide much-needed socioemotional wellness principles to staff and participants.

Beth also brings her expertise in social justice education, restorative practices, intentional community, and transformational growth to allow programs and participants to thrive. When not in the field with students, Beth lives in Virginia Beach.
